    Andhra: Fake Surveys Misleading People!
    Andhra: Fake Surveys Misleading People!
It has been not even two years since YSR Congress party led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power in Andhra Pradesh and there is still a long way to go face the elections, unless, of course, the Centre decides to go in for simultaneous polls to all the state assemblies and Lok Sabha. So, if any agency does any survey on the winning chances of any sitting MLA in the next elections, it should be either fake or commissioned by some vested interests to mislead the people, since it is too premature to do any such surveys. Of course, some popular agencies do periodical surveys over the overall performance of the governments in various states but not the individual performance of MLA and MPs and whether they would win the next elections or not. The other day C-Voter did a survey on who is the most popular chief minister based on his performance and Jagan Mohan Reddy was voted as the third most popular CM, while his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao stood in the fourth position from the bottom. To some extent, it is believable as, by launching a series of welfare schemes, the Jagan government is giving an impression that he is doing well. Even this survey cannot be totally believed as the sample size taken across the country was too low. For the last two days, a similar survey in the name of Aaara Poll Strategies Private Limited is doing rounds in the social media extensively. According to this survey, the YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh has been doing exceedingly well and except in a few states, it might retain more or less same number of assembly seats in the next elections. For example, in Guntur district, the YSRC has winning chances in 12 out of 17 assembly constituencies in the next elections. In Guntur (West), Maddali Giridhar who defected from TDP to YSRC, has just 41 per cent chances of winning. In Vemuru, sitting YSRC MLA Meruga Nagarjuna has 46 per cent chances, while Chilakaluripeta MLA Vidadala Rajini and Tadikonda MLA Vundavalli Sridevi have only 31 and 23 per cent chances respectively. Enquiries revealed that the survey was not conducted by Aaara group at all, but it was just fake. The group, however, did not deny the contents of the survey because it would unnecessarily give a hype to it. “During the TDP regime, too, such bogus surveys used to surface in the media only to mislead the people. It also led to overconfidence in TDP which ultimately faced a completely different result. Thus, it is better the YSRC doesn’t get carried away by such fake surveys,” an analyst said.
